Peter is a commercial CIO with broad experience across all aspects of the systems lifecycle from strategy, through architecture, development, infrastructure, operations and delivery. He has extensive experience in multiple-channel, high volume B2C environments and has driven major change projects across Europe.
Peter is the CIO for Game Group, the leading specialist video games retailer based in the UK. At Game he is responsible for the strategy, architecture, project delivery and operational management of the company’s UK and continental Europe stores and e-commerce estate. The company has turnover of £1.3 billion and has a strong ecommerce presence in nine countries with a store estate in excess of 1,300. He is also responsible for vendor procurement and relationship management.
Immediately before working for Game Peter worked for the Chief Executive of The Royal Opera House to develop and gain board approval for their new digital strategy. In this role he established a clear financial and commercial business case which identified a road map for new web development, digital cinemas and rights and media acquisition. This led to successful M&A activity – the first for a publicly funded body. Peter also led the redesign of the ROH’s online service.
Prior to this Peter was EVP for European Demand Management and Enterprise Architecture at T-Mobile International in Germany and reported directly to the board member for technology, Hamid Akhavan. He was responsible for the relationship between the business and technology functions across Europe. Working with senior stakeholders, Within T-Mobile, he set priorities for the delivery and management of the main technology programmes across Europe. He worked closely with all functions to build business cases, measure portfolio effectiveness and ensure strong alignment across our end-to-end supply capability. This was a commercial orientated technology position and linked the business strategy to programme execution and the bottom line.
Peter has a background in management consulting having previously worked for KPMG and Capgemini. He has an MBA and an MSc in Supply Chain. He is also a qualified accountant.
